Ground School

Our training includes the PPG1 and PPG2 syllabus while incorporating items we have learned through the experience of pilots who have been in the sport for decades.

We cover critical items such as weather, glider design, airspace, federal regulation, safety measures, motor maintenance, line detangling, app usage, and more!

Flight Simulator

There are many moving pieces to launch a paramotor, so we do simulated take-offs first. We’ll walk you through an entire solo via radio and hand signals. This will give you a good sensation for the motor and build the muscle memory needed to execute flawlessly. We will review the steps for launching, flying the pattern, throttle management, proper seating, flaring, and landing.

First Flight!

You can expect to be in the air by day 3 or 4. We are lucky that the weather in Central Florida is suitable year-round for flying. Still, weather can sometimes impact us but we’ll pivot if that happens.

Once you have completed your first flight, you’re learning is not over. We’ll get as many flights before the end of training as possible to ensure you feel confident launching, flying, and landing on your own!

Kiting and Wing Control

There will be lots of kiting as it is critical to success and safety. The most challenging aspect of Powered Paragliding is the take-off and landing. Strong skills in ground handling are crucial to mastering the sport.

Expect some physical exercise and fun as we challenge you through your kiting progression. We teach forward launches, reverse launches, and hand-kiting.

Taxiing

Paramotors can be awkward to carry on your back in the beginning. Don’t worry, you will grow accustomed to it and it’ll feel like a natural part of your body before soon. After we’ve got sufficient kiting skills, we’ll add the motor to the taxi process to make sure you are comfortable.

This helps you have a controlled take-off that isn’t left to chance on whether your wing is stabilized. This is the final step before taking that first flight!

Skills Refinement

Congratulations - you are a Paramotor Pilot! Now, we get to have some more fun and refine any areas that need attention. Landing in various wind conditions requires different methods and you can always use more kiting practice. We’ll practice spot landing, touch-and-goes, flare timing, energy management, and more!
